Lightly score the dotted lines using a metal ruler and a box cutter (be careful not to cut all the way through), so the folds will look nice and neat.
Spraypaint the inside of your box whatever color you like. After that has dried, spraypaint the outside of your box.
After your paint has dried, glue all the sides together and hold as you are gluing.
Glue a miniature door handle (you can buy these at your local miniatures store, or online) to the top of the box for the handle. You can also use a piece of ribbon or string for this if you don't have a handle in your supplies. If you use string, it would look neater if you poked two small holes where the ends of the strings would be and tied a knot on the ends of the strings so they won't pull through the holes.
Glue any small metal part or a bead onto the front flap to make a clasp. I used a miniature buckle part I had in my supplies, but you can substitute this with anything you think would look good here.
My box does not close as I wanted it to stay open so that you could see the stickers inside. If you'd like your box to close, a small piece of velcro on the inside flap would work out great. Or you can glue a bead onto the flap, glue another bead onto the box and glue a string to one of the beads where you would wrap the string around the beads in a figure 8 fashion to close the box. |
