This is my second time around putting together a dollhouse kit.  I'm really excited about this one as it's exactly what I've always wanted in a dollhouse. . . modern.  I just can't seem to stop showing it off to all my coworkers (who are mostly male, and could care less, lol), friends and family.  Please check back often as I'm working on this one real fast and will be updating this page as I go along.
I just got this handy stand on wheels from Target to make it easier to move the house around, since it's kinda heavy and hard to move on my own.  I just love stone on the modern houses so I've decided to add it on my mini version.  I think it gives it more character.
I painted the siding and shutters my favorite neutral colors, lol.  I had a hard time deciding what colors to make the shutters; midnight blue or black.  I also added cement block sheets to the bottom of the house to make it look life like.
My final decision on the shutters were to paint them maroon.  I also just got the roof completed. See below for closeup and more details.  I made my own railing for the balcony but I'm not sure if I like it, see both pics above (one with and one without it on the balcony below the windows).  I will be coating the wood flooring on the porches next, then gluing on the porch posts and railings, right now they are just proped up there.
Close up of roof shingles.   I used this spray called "American Accents, Stone Creations" to spray each individual shingle with.  It gives it that  "roof like" texture.  I really wanted to use 3 different shades of gray to make the roof totally modern, but they only had one shade of gray in this spray, so I had to settle for the one tone look.
Nov 5, 2002:  I have pretty much put my dollhouse on hold for now as I've been working like mad on making minis for swap groups on line.  It's a lot of fun and I found out how addicting it can become, lol.  For pics of items I've made in the swaps see my link DIY Projects.
September 26, 2006:
It's been sooooooooooooooo long since my last post.  I hope the next few pics make up for that.  I have my dollhouse almost completed now, well if you can really ever call it complete, but you know what I mean.  Here's  the house decorated all spooky for Halloween.
The outside of the house.  It seems a little plain to me being all white, so I'm thinking about painting it a greyish blue with grey shutters.
Here's what I have decorated so far.  I haven't finished the upstairs right attic room yet, but I'm going to make it into a little girls room, decorated in orange and pink.
Close up pics of all of the rooms...............
Just ignore the fact that I have Easter decorations inside and Halloween decorations outside, lol.  I just never took the ones inside down yet.
I'm still working on the kitchen.  The upper cabinets aren't up, I don't have a center island with a pots and pans hanger over it and no lighting (no lighting throughout the house yet).
Here's a pic that shows what it will sort of look like when I get those in the kitchen.
Here's a better pic of the china cabinet filled with china.
And some of the food in the cabinets.
I made the shelf unit in the laundry room with pull out bins for dirty laundry.
